The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) is the peak intergovernmental forum in Australia.

The members of COAG are the Prime Minister, State and Territory Premiers and Chief Ministers and the President of the Australian Local Government Association.

COAG has a strong record of implementing reforms that have improved the lives of all Australians.

COAG is currently pursuing a reform agenda aimed at improving economic and social participation, strengthening the national economy, creating a more sustainable and liveable Australia, delivering better health services and closing the gap in Indigenous disadvantage.

In the period ahead, COAG will continue to drive reforms that are vital to Australia’s future.

COAG Meeting, 19 April 2013

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) held its 35th meeting in Canberra today. The Prime Minister, Premiers, Chief Ministers and the President of the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) participated in today’s meeting. The Leaders welcomed the Victorian Premier, the Hon Dr Denis Napthine MLA and Northern Territory Chief Minister, the Hon Adam Giles MLA to their first COAG meeting.

Annoucements

On 23 April 2013 the Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, and Premier of New South Wales, the Hon Barry O’Farrell MP, signed the National Education Reform Agreement . The Agreement incorporates the National Plan for School Improvement and new needs-based funding arrangements to apply to New South Wales schools from 2014-2019.
